That your copy won't open means there's something wrong on your end. The embedded version of Century in your linked PDF is New Century Schoolbook. Was Word already running when you added the font? If so, quit Word and relaunch it. Office (even the new 2016 version) will not show any font that was activated after any Office app was already in use. What is the error message you get? Let me explain my situation a little better. I have Century. It appears in Font Book, in Library/Fonts, and in Library/Microsoft/Fonts. Word files that were created in Century continue to appear in Century. I can make Century work for new content in Word, but only if I type Century into the box with the name of the font. Century appeared in the font pull-down menu until I upgraded to High Sierra.

This change immediately after installing High Sierra caused me to look into whether High Sierra dropped Century. Apple Support does not show Century as being supported.

John - That was my first inclination, to go to Microsoft, but then I did a little research to see if others were having the problem and saw that Century does not appear on this page: The change also took place right after I installed High Sierra. I had used Century for years with the same version of Word. Thus, I don't think Word is the problem. If the issue is not completely caused by High Sierra, then it is the interaction of Word with High Sierra. Century does work with High Sierra, so Century is 'supported.' It's just inconvenient.
