I played quite a bit of it. One thing to keep in mind is that the rules haven't been supported in about 5 years.

The game is a true skirmish game, similar to 2e 40k, where each individual soldier moves and fires seperately. Squads activate randomly using a card driven system. Small arms fire uses a table for resolution with results like Suppression, Morale Checks, LIght Wounds, Heavy Woulds, KIA and Gory Death. Tanks have a tank sheet similar to 40k's old datafax. It has hit location charts that indicate a variety of special additional damage effects for that location. Each crewmember has a location and job and uses his actions to perform them.

It isn't as bad as it sounds but the rules aren't clearly written on this point. Back in the day, I created some additional tank charts for tanks that were never officially released. Looking over them will give you an idea of how they worked.

The game originally used 20mm figures but included additional charts for 15mm and 1/285th (microarmor). However, after a few supplements were released, they decided to reprint the main rulebook to support 28mm and removed support for all the other scales. They did this because at the time they decided to sell 28mm figures. Unfortunately, there is nothing on the cover of the rulebook to indicated if it is the 20mm or 28mm version. The tank and weapon data in the newer supplements also changed without warning. For example, the british tank charts in the Crusade for Empire supplement had a movement stat for 28mm.

If you werent' aware of the chance (as I wasn't) you would be playing with all British tanks given a 25% boost in speed. The tank chart, panther, japanese, and British paratrooper supplements were all released in 20mm scale. I don't believe they were ever updated for 28mm. It was all very confusing. Especially since EEE didn't tell all of us on their eGroup that they made the change. We just started getting weird question from new players wondering why infantry moved 4' in one book and 5' in another. There's a dude named Kevin who wrote a set of rules that supposedly combine features from Battleground and Warhammer.
